God wants more for you. He has PROVIDEd so many things so you will succeed in your business calling. Do you believe that? Do you want more too?
In today’s post, we’ll go through the acronym P.R.O.V.I.D.E to explain how God wants you to serve Him through your work. And how He will PROVIDE for you when you align with Him for your success.
God provides promises
Promises- God gives them to you.
For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
Jeremiah 29:11
No matter what you are going through, there is a reason, and God has your best at heart. Stay close to Him through Bible study and prayer. Use your journal to pour out your heart to Him and to hear from His heart what He wants to say to you.
When you use a journal, you can look back and see what God is revealing to you over the course of many days as you pray through all aspects of a challenge, a problem, and even an idea. Here is one secret I do in my journal, I tab out in separate colors ideas and things to think through for a project. I can see the progression God is giving me as I bring everything to the CEO (Chief Everything Officer.)
God helps you build respect
Respect- God helps you build it.
The young stepped aside when they saw me, and even the aged rose in respect at my coming.
Job 29:8
Building your business means also building a good reputation. When you are doing things with excellence and integrity it shows. Be known for doing what you say you are going to do and helping others get what they want.
Think through what it is you want others to say about you and about your business. Write out your ‘Reputation Statement’ and then list three things you can do to build that reputation. For example, if you want others to say, “She always has the best ideas!” then create time in your schedule to learn more information about topics you want to be known for which you give great ideas. For example, I would like people to say that I have a Biblical application to business.
God expects obedience
Obedience- God expects it from you.
But Samuel replied, “What is more pleasing to the Lord: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and . . .”
1 Samuel 15:22
We all need help to do what is right. God gives you the ability to stand up and stand out in your business when you obey what He is asking you to do. The work He has for you is unique because He created you as the only person able to accomplish it.
Is there something right now you are wrestling with? Something God has put on your heart to do, and you are not doing it? It could be from fear, it could be from a lack of knowing how to do it, or it could be from not feeling like you have clarity to take a direction. The enemy most times wants to confuse us by giving us too many options, all good, so we get stuck.
Clarity comes through action. Write out all the aspects of this pull on your heart, the thing you feel God wants you to do. Pray and journal through each piece by specifically writing out your questions and concerns to God. Get all the thoughts out of your head and in front of your eyes. Then ask God to give you direction and tell you what you need. When ideas come, take those back to Him to make sure they are from Him. And don’t neglect that He may be pointing you to outside resources to help you figure this new thing out.
God delivers victory
Victory- God delivers it to you.
But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.
1 John 4:4
God’s way of doing business may look different than the world’s. But that is okay! He will give you the tools you need, the method to follow, and the stamina to see it through. He wants you to succeed, and He will do it for you in the way that is true for you.
One thing I have learned over the years as an entrepreneur is that we need others in this adventure of business! As believers especially, we need to be with others who are on the same adventure to support us, believe in us, and really ‘get’ us. Being a solopreneur, being the leader of your business can feel lonely. God does not want you and me to be alone. He created us for community, cultivating personal and business relationships with other believers so we can share His goodness in the marketplace.
I want to invite you into the Calling Clarity Community. Get on the waitlist to learn more about this amazing OIKOS (household of women) community and how you can be involved with other believers on the same mission as you.
God breathes inspiration
Inspiration- God breathes it on you.
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
Your idea, that vision for your business, came from God. He designed it just for you. He wants you to go after it with passion. He will keep you feeling motivated, even when things get tough, because you will know it is from Him, and He is with you every step of the way.
God is using your business calling to transform you into the image of His Son. God uses many things in our lives to teach us valuable lessons. Are you struggling with your business calling? Turn around your perceptions of what you think SHOULD be happening and see it through the lens of God revealing something to you about your character so you can display the Fruits of the Spirit in your business.
God shows us direction
Direction- God shows it to you.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.
Proverbs 3:5-6
The way to know what God wants you to do is to ask Him. By staying close to His Word, praying, and talking with God, you WILL know what the next step is to take. He gives you opportunities and allows you instances to trust Him to take that step.
Aligning with God is THE most important part of the Christian adventure. Knowing the next step, getting clarity on your direction, truly comes when you prioritize meeting with God each day. If He is your CEO (chief everything officer) then He is the Boss. You would not say to an earthly boss, “Hey, I don’t have time to come to your meeting today.” (If you did, you might get fired.) Don’t neglect this meeting with God each day. He deserves more than ‘the office boss.’ Put your meeting with God in your planner, and show up ready to work.
God equips you to serve
Equipping- God prepares you.
May he equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to him.
Hebrews 13:21a
