Accountability is really the difference between success and failure in your business. Accountability keeps you motivated:
- teaches you the value of hard work,
- makes you stronger, and
- keeps you from blaming others for what is happening in your business.
It helps you accept and take on personal challenges that help you grow.
Accountability keeps you motivated.
Accountability is- “being responsible for decisions made, actions taken, and assignments completed.”
When you are accountable, it improves your performance and accelerates your growth.
It starts . . .
When you take responsibility for doing what you say you will do, use your time wisely, and do not overcommit to try to impress anyone.
It helps . . .
You eliminate your time and effort on distracting activities and other unproductive behaviors.
It shows . . .
You learn to value your work, increase your skills, and gain confidence to try new things.
It makes. . .
You reliable by building trust in yourself that inspires confidence in others about what you are doing.
Accountability is not a one-time thing. Like a muscle, the more you work it, the stronger it becomes.
As an entrepreneur, you are obligated to yourself and God to be responsible. It is hard and takes humility.
Accountability spaces
Accountability comes in all shapes and sizes. Finding what is right for you is what’s important.
Level one. . .
A Facebook group, Instagram DM group, LinkedIn group, or another type of DM group. A good place to start but not a good place for growth or depth. This is a great step in learning to be accountable to yourself.
Level two. . .
Accountability keeps you motivated with an accountability partner. This is a person who has dedicated some time to you and you to them to ‘report’ on a schedule the things you want to get accomplished and then follow through. This level is excellent as one way to build your accountability muscle.
Level three. . .
A community where you invest your time, energy, and money because of ongoing support for your business through masterminding and weekly sessions. This Accountability keeps you motivated because you have committed yourself to be accountable to someone else who is ahead of you on the path to success.
Accountability shared
Getting into a community with others who understand and ‘get’ what you are going through as an entrepreneur and believer in the marketplace is very important.
The community that will help you be your best is filled with like-minded people who understand the unique challenges you face as a Christian and business owner. It should be a place where you feel inspired and can rely on others to support, encourage, and keep you accountable to do your best.
Facebook groups, many times, are filled with people looking for a place to hang their sign (so to speak) to get clients and customers. Even my group has many people who come only to give us the link for their next event, workshop, speaking engagement, sale, and any other type of offer.
It’s hard to have meaningful conversations when most people’s aim in a group is to jump up and down to tell you about their stuff.
Accountability keeps you motivated in a community.
Community needs to go beyond this and be a place where interaction and real engagement exist.
1 Peter 4:10 says God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.
The Calling Clarity Community is about sharing ideas, feedback, encouragement, and prayer.
We love Accountability and have found a great way to incorporate it every week. We know when Accountability is within a supportive group. It helps you do what is right.
