Have you ever listened to someone talk about “personalized faith” or “creating a faith rhythm that fits your life”… and quietly thought:
“Okay… but what does that actually mean?”
Because for many women, faith has always been presented as one standard formula.
- Wake up early.
- Read the Bible a certain way.
- Journal a certain way.
- Pray a certain way.
- Volunteer a certain way.
- Serve a certain way.
And if those things aren’t working for you consistently?
You assume the problem must be you.
For many women, faith feels hard not because they don’t love God… but because they’ve been trying to grow through methods that don’t actually fit the way God designed them.
But what if the issue isn’t your desire for God?
What if the issue is that you’ve been trying to grow using someone else’s rhythm instead of understanding your own design?
Because personalized faith practices are not about making faith easier.
And they’re definitely not about avoiding discipline.
They’re about alignment.
They’re about understanding how God uniquely designed you to connect, process, reflect, worship, learn, and grow.
And once women begin to understand this… everything starts to make more sense.
For a long time, I honestly thought the problem was me.
I loved God deeply…
but I constantly felt like I was struggling to maintain the kinds of faith routines everyone else seemed to recommend so easily.
And over time, especially through different life seasons, leadership responsibilities, business ownership, and even health challenges, I started realizing something important:
Not everyone naturally connects with God in the same way.
Some women thrive through structure and study.
Others connect deeply through reflection, creativity, conversation, movement, or practical action.
And instead of helping women discover how God uniquely designed them to grow…
many faith conversations unintentionally keep handing women the exact same formula.
That realization eventually became the foundation for the Personalized Faith Plan™ and the work I do today.

WHAT PERSONALIZATION IS NOT
Let me first clear up a misconception.
When I talk about a Personalized Faith Plan™ or personalized faith practices, I am not talking about:
“Doing whatever feels good.”
Or:
“Only doing the spiritual practices you like.”
Or:
“A faith life with no structure.”
That’s not what this is.
Personalization is not removing intentionality.
It’s removing unnecessary friction.
There’s a difference.
Many women are carrying spiritual guilt because they keep trying to force themselves into routines that don’t actually fit the life season or internal wiring God gave them.
And eventually that mismatch creates:
- inconsistency
- exhaustion
- shame
- spiritual pressure
- discouragement
- disconnection
Not because they don’t love God.
But because they’re trying to grow through misalignment.

WHAT ONE-SIZE-FITS-ALL FAITH OFTEN LOOKS LIKE
Here’s what typically happens.
A woman hears someone say:
“If you really want to grow spiritually, you need to wake up at 5am and spend an hour journaling through Scripture.”
And for some people?
That may genuinely work beautifully.
But for someone else:
- they may be in a demanding season of life
- they may process internally in a different way
- they may connect more deeply through movement, reflection, conversation, creativity, or practical service
- they may have children waking throughout the night
- they may work shifts
- they may be mentally exhausted from leadership or caregiving responsibilities
Yet instead of asking:
“What helps me genuinely connect with God consistently?”
They ask:
“What’s wrong with me that I can’t sustain this?”
That’s the trap.
One-size-fits-all systems work very well for organizations.
But souls are personal.
WHAT PERSONALIZED FAITH PRACTICES ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE
So let’s make this practical.
What does this actually look like in real life?
Let me give you some examples.
Example #1 — Bible Study
One woman may deeply connect with God through:
- structured study
- research
- cross-references
- historical context
- detailed journaling
Women who are more Mind-led often feel spiritually energized by learning deeply and understanding how everything connects.
They feel spiritually energized by learning deeply.
Another woman may struggle to sit still with heavy study for long periods, but comes alive when she:
- reflects on one verse slowly
- visualizes the scene
- processes through creativity
- notices God while walking outside
- experiences Scripture emotionally and relationally
Heart-led and Soul-led women often connect more deeply through reflection, imagination, emotional connection, and personal experience with Scripture.
Neither woman is “doing it wrong.”
They’re engaging differently.
And honestly, this is exactly why I created the Faith Shape Quiz in the first place.
Because many women have never stopped to ask:
“How did God actually design me to connect, process, reflect, and grow spiritually?”
Instead, they’ve only been handed someone else’s model.
The quiz helps you begin identifying whether you naturally lean more Heart, Soul, Mind, or Strength in your faith life.
And for many women, it’s the first time things finally start making sense.

Example #2 — Prayer
One woman may love:
- prayer journals
- structured prayer lists
- tracking answered prayers
- organized reflection
Mind-led women often feel grounded by structure, intentional reflection, and seeing how God has been faithful over time.
Another woman may connect best with God:
- while driving
- while walking
- through spoken conversation
- through reflective silence
- through prayer woven into daily life moments
Strength-led women often experience prayer more naturally when it becomes active, embodied, and integrated into everyday life rhythms.
Again:
different does not mean less spiritual.
Example #3 — Worship
Some women connect deeply through:
- music
- emotional reflection
- expressive worship
Heart-led women often experience worship through emotional connection, relational intimacy with God, and reflection on His presence.
Others connect more through:
- wonder in nature
- theological reflection on God’s character
- movement
- creating beauty
- acts of service
- quiet awe
Soul-led women often connect through creativity, beauty, symbolism, wonder, and meaningful experiences that awaken awareness of God.
Worship is focus on God.
Not merely one external expression.
Example #4 — Service
This one is especially important.
Many women think service only counts if it happens inside church programs.
But personalized faith practices recognize that your workplace, leadership, business, family, and everyday interactions can become deeply meaningful places of service and discipleship.
For one woman:
service may look like mentoring.
For another:
creating systems that reduce stress for her team.
For another:
hospitality.
For another:
deep encouragement.
For another:
practical problem solving.
For another:
helping clients feel seen and cared for.
Strength-led women often naturally express their faith through practical support, action, leadership, and helping others in tangible ways.
Faith is not supposed to remain compartmentalized from real life.

WHY THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING
Here’s why this matters so much.
When women finally understand:
“Oh… I’m not failing spiritually. I’ve just been trying to grow through someone else’s model…”
Everything shifts.
The guilt starts lifting.
The constant “starting over” slows down.
Consistency becomes more sustainable.
Faith feels less performative and more relational.
And instead of trying to copy someone else’s routine…
You begin building rhythms that genuinely help you stay connected to God in your actual life.
- Not your imaginary life.
- Not your someday life.
- Your real life.
PERSONALIZATION STILL REQUIRES GROWTH
Now let me say something important.
Personalized faith practices do not mean:
“Stay only where you are comfortable.”
Growth still matters.
Stretching still matters.
Discipline still matters.
But healthy growth happens much more sustainably when you understand:
- where you naturally connect
- what restores you
- how you process
- where friction exists
- what season you’re in
- how God uniquely designed you
That’s why inside my Personalized Faith Plan™ framework, we don’t just look at one area.
We look at your full Faith Shape™:
Heart. Soul. Mind. Strength.
Because spiritual growth was never meant to become a copy-and-paste formula.
If you’ve been feeling spiritually inconsistent…
or discouraged…
or frustrated that you keep “starting over”…
I want you to consider the possibility that maybe the answer isn’t more pressure.
Maybe the answer is alignment.
Maybe God never intended for your faith life to look exactly like everyone else’s.
And maybe understanding your design is actually part of understanding how He wants to grow you.
That’s exactly why I’m hosting this upcoming free LIVE workshop:
“Why You Keep Starting Over in Your Faith”
Because we’re going to unpack:
- why traditional systems stop working for many women
- how personalization actually works
- what alignment looks like practically
- and how to begin creating sustainable faith rhythms that fit your real life
If that sounds like something your soul has been craving, I’d love for you to join us.
Let me know…What’s one faith practice that has felt difficult or frustrating for you… even though it seems to work well for everyone else?
I’d genuinely love to hear your experience in the comments.
Be filled to overflowing,
DeneenTB
