What Happens When You Stop Forcing Your Faith

June 30, 2026 by Deneen Troupe-Buitrago Leave a Comment

Have you ever wondered why growing spiritually feels so hard?

Not because you don’t love God.

Not because you’re lazy.

Not because you’re failing.

But because somewhere along the way, you started believing that faith was supposed to look the same for everyone.

And maybe that’s why you keep starting over.

I want to show you what happens when you stop forcing your faith into someone else’s expectations and begin creating rhythms that actually fit the way God designed you.

Because what changes isn’t perfection.

What changes is peace.

And after helping Christian women for more than fifteen years, and after walking through my own seasons of exhaustion, disappointment, and starting over, I can tell you this:

Everything changes when you stop fighting the way God created you.

I Used to Think Something Was Wrong With Me

Years ago, I believed that if I could just become more disciplined…

more consistent…

more like the women I admired…

then I would finally feel close to God.

  • So I tried harder.
  • I copied other people’s routines.
  • I forced myself into methods that worked beautifully for them.

And every time I couldn’t sustain it, I assumed the problem was me.

Maybe you’ve felt that way too.

You genuinely love God.

You want to grow.

But instead of feeling life and freedom, your faith has started to feel heavy.

And heavy isn’t the word Jesus used.

He said:

“My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Not because life is easy.

But because walking with Him was never meant to feel like carrying someone else’s load.

And, if you’ve ever wondered, ‘Why does faith seem to come naturally for some people but feel so difficult for me?’ that’s actually one of the reasons I created the Faith Design Profile™ Experience.

Because sometimes what you’re missing isn’t more discipline, it’s understanding.

Let me show you what begins to change when you stop forcing your faith.

Because here’s what I’ve seen in my own life and after helping Christian women for more than fifteen years.

When we stop trying to squeeze ourselves into someone else’s expectations and start cooperating with the way God designed us, something beautiful begins to happen.

Not all at once.

Not perfectly.

But slowly…and often quietly…things begin to change.

What Happens When You Stop Forcing Your Faith?

1. You stop living with constant guilt.

When you’re trying to maintain a faith rhythm that doesn’t fit your season, personality, or responsibilities, guilt becomes your constant companion.

You always feel behind.

Always feel like you’re not doing enough.

Always feel like you’re disappointing God.

But when you stop forcing yourself into someone else’s formula, something beautiful happens.

You begin relating to God instead of performing for Him.

And guilt slowly gives way to grace.

2. You become more steady.

Most women I talk to don’t want perfection.

They want consistency.

Not the kind of consistency that comes from pressure.

The kind that comes from sustainability.

Because sustainable rhythms are stronger than intense seasons of motivation.

When your practices fit your life, you stop swinging between all-in and all-out.

You begin building something steady.

And steady growth may not be flashy…

but it bears fruit.

3. Your faith starts fueling your work instead of competing with it.

For years, many Christian women have felt like faith and work are separate categories.

As if time with God happens over here…

and leadership, business, family, and responsibilities happen over there.

But when faith becomes integrated into your real life, something shifts.

Your work becomes an expression of your faith.

Your leadership becomes a place where God forms you.

Your ordinary moments become opportunities to walk with Him.

And instead of competing with your life…

faith begins fueling it.

4. You stop comparing yourself to everyone else.

Comparison loses its power when you understand that God designed people differently.

  • Different seasons.
  • Different personalities.
  • Different responsibilities.
  • Different ways of connecting with Him.

And that’s okay.

Because maturity isn’t becoming someone else.

It’s becoming the person God created you to be.

The oak tree doesn’t apologize for not being a rose.

And the rose doesn’t strive to become an oak tree.

Both glorify God by becoming what they were created to be.

5. You experience more peace.

Not because life gets easier.

Not because problems disappear.

But because you’re no longer fighting yourself.

You stop measuring your relationship with God by exhaustion.

You stop believing that faithfulness requires constant striving.

You stop carrying burdens Jesus never asked you to carry.

And peace begins to replace pressure.

This Is What I’ve Seen Again and Again

Over the years, I’ve watched women move from frustration to confidence.

From guilt to freedom.

From constantly starting over to finally building rhythms and practices that last.

Not because they became more spiritual.

But because they stopped forcing methods that didn’t fit.

And perhaps that’s the greatest surprise of all.

The answer wasn’t trying harder.

It was learning to cooperate with the way God had already designed them.

Maybe Nothing Is Wrong With You

Maybe you’re not spiritually broken.

Maybe you’re simply exhausted from carrying expectations God never gave you.

Maybe the answer isn’t more pressure.

Maybe it’s permission.

  • Permission to stop comparing.
  • Permission to stop performing.
  • Permission to stop forcing.

And permission to walk with God in ways that are both deeply biblical and deeply personal.

Because when your faith finally fits your life…

everything feels different.

Not perfect. But peaceful.

Not effortless. But sustainable.

Not someone else’s journey.

But the one God lovingly designed for you.

And if you’re tired of constantly wondering why faith feels harder than you think it should, I’d love to help you discover the way God uniquely designed you to grow.

That’s exactly what the Faith Design Profile™ Experience is for.

Together, we’ll uncover your unique faith design and build rhythms that are deeply biblical, deeply personal, and sustainable for real life.

And now I’d love to hear from you…

Have you ever experienced a season where you were trying to force your faith instead of walking with God in ways that fit the season He had you in?

Be filled to overflowing,
