Have you ever looked at another woman’s quiet time and thought,
“I should probably be doing that.”
- Maybe she gets up at five in the morning.
- She journals every day.
- She follows a Bible reading plan.
She has the color-coded highlighters, the prayer journal, and the beautiful coffee mug.
And in a world full of podcasts, Instagram reels, devotionals, and well-meaning advice, it’s easy to start believing that there must be one right way to grow spiritually.
So you try:
- You buy the journal.
- You download the Bible plan.
- You commit to the routine.
And maybe for a while, it works.
But eventually, you fall behind.
You miss a few days.
Life gets busy.
And instead of feeling closer to God, you start wondering:
“Why can’t I seem to stay consistent?”
“Why does this seem to work for everyone else?”
“Am I doing something wrong?”
Maybe you’ve even started questioning whether you’re failing spiritually.
But what if the problem isn’t that you don’t love God enough?
What if you’ve simply been trying to grow someone else’s way?
I’m DeneenTB, and I help busy Christian women build a faith rhythm that fits their real life so they can feel close to God every day.

Inspiration Is Good. Copying Is Exhausting.
Now, hear me carefully.
There is nothing wrong with learning from other believers.
In fact, Scripture encourages us to learn from one another.
Another woman’s faith journey may inspire you.
Her practices may encourage you.
But somewhere along the way, many of us begin confusing someone else’s experience with God’s expectation.
We assume that if it worked for her, it should work for us.
And when it doesn’t, we begin to doubt ourselves.
But God never intended for another woman’s rhythm and practices to become your blueprint.

Jesus Gave Us a Bigger Picture
When Jesus was asked about the greatest commandment, He said:
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.” (Mark 12:30)
I find it interesting that Jesus didn’t mention just one way of loving God.
He mentioned heart, soul, mind, and strength.
And while we are all called to love God with all four, many of us naturally experience and express those areas differently.
Heart
Some women connect deeply through people, encouragement, relationships, compassion, and caring for others.
Soul
Others experience God most deeply through beauty, creativity, quiet reflection, prayer, rest, wonder, and simply being present with Him.
Mind
Some come alive through studying Scripture, asking questions, learning, understanding truth, and discovering new insights.
Strength
And others connect with God while serving, moving, accomplishing, working with their hands, or engaging with the world He made.
None of these are more spiritual than the others.
And none of them replace Scripture.
They simply reflect some of the different ways God designed us to respond to Him.
Because loving God with our heart, soul, mind, and strength doesn’t mean everyone experiences Him in exactly the same way.
The Day Kheri Realized Nothing Was Wrong
I remember talking with a woman named Kheri.
She shared that she often felt closest to God when she was outside.
- Walking.
- Enjoying creation.
- Working with her hands.
- Experiencing the beauty around her.
But she wasn’t sure if that counted.
Because she had learned that connecting with God was supposed to look like sitting quietly with a Bible and journal.
So she questioned herself.
Was she doing something wrong? Was her faith somehow less mature?
The answer was no.
Nothing was wrong.
She simply hadn’t recognized the way God had designed her.
And I think many women are carrying that same question.
Not because they don’t love God.
Not because they lack discipline.
But because they’ve unknowingly assumed:
“If my faith doesn’t look like hers, maybe it’s not real.”
That’s one of the reasons I created the Faith Shape Quiz.
It will help you discover which of these four areas—heart, soul, mind, or strength—may naturally draw you toward God.
It only takes a couple of minutes, but for many women, it becomes the beginning of a completely different conversation.
One filled with clarity instead of comparison.

What If Nothing Is Wrong With You?
Maybe you’ve spent years trying to force yourself into someone else’s routine.
Maybe you’ve started over more times than you can count.
Maybe you’ve downloaded the plans, bought the journals, listened to the podcasts, and sincerely wanted to grow.
And maybe you’ve quietly wondered:
“Why does this seem to work for everyone else?”
“Why can’t I stay consistent?”
“Why does faith sometimes feel harder than I think it should?”
Wise Woman, what if the answer isn’t that you’re failing?
What if nothing is wrong with you?
What if you’ve simply been trying to grow someone else’s way?
Because another woman’s rhythm may inspire you.
But it was never meant to replace the way God designed you.
And perhaps that’s why Jesus described walking with Him as easy and light.
Not because life is easy.
But because following Him was never meant to feel like carrying someone else’s load.
Maybe God isn’t asking you to become someone else.
Maybe He’s inviting you to learn how to walk with Him from the design He gave you.
And when that begins to happen, something beautiful starts to change.
- Comparison begins to lose its grip.
- Pressure starts giving way to peace.
- You stop constantly starting over.
And instead of trying harder, you begin walking with greater clarity, confidence, and freedom.
Not because you’re doing more.
But because you’re learning to respond to God in the way He designed you.
Want to Go Deeper?
The Faith Shape Quiz is a wonderful place to start because it gives you a glimpse of your natural tendencies.
But for many women, that first discovery raises bigger questions.
“Why do some practices bring life while others feel heavy?”
“Why do I thrive in one season and struggle in another?”
“Why do I lead one way but replenish differently?”
That’s why I created the Faith Design Profile Experience.
Together, we explore the bigger picture.
Not just your Heart, Soul, Mind, and Strength tendencies, but the unique ways God has wired you to grow, the patterns that bring life, the tensions that create frustration, and what alignment may look like in this season.
Because spiritual growth was never meant to be about copying someone else’s blueprint.
It was meant to be lived from design.
And when you begin to understand that, peace starts replacing pressure.
Faith starts feeling less like striving and more like walking with God.
- Less comparison.
- Less guilt.
- Less starting over.
And more confidence that the God who created you also knows how to grow you.
Have you ever tried copying someone else’s spiritual routine and found yourself frustrated or discouraged?
Or have you discovered a way you naturally connect with God that surprised you?
I’d love for you to share your experience in the comments below.
Be filled to overflowing
