For the last few weeks we have going through the 8-8-8 Goal Planning Strategy. Eight goal areas, eight weeks, eight activities each day. We have covered the first two 8-strategies. Today we will look at how it translates into your every day. We are going to SUPER 8 your days.
As an entrepreneur it is hard to know when you can say you have had a good day. When have I done enough that I can relax. Do you have these thoughts: “I should do one more thing”, “I should be doing something”, “What else can I get done today”? This is my problem, so I came up with Super-8 for my days. I guarantee, your days will be filled with activities that move you forward in your business. You CAN relax at the end of your day and find time to do the things you love.
A Super-8 day looks like this:
2 Income Producing Activities
2 Business Maintenance Activities
2 Relationship Activities
2 Personal/Health Activities
These activities look different for everyone depending on your industry. When I was in Direct Sales I had hostesses to contact, team members to connect with, and customer service touches. Now that I coach, run workshops and speak, my activities look very different each day with scheduling, creating, writing and connecting.
It is important to know what activities are included in your income producing activities. Something as simple as a networking meeting to an actual sales call and sending invoices. The same goes for business maintenance, it can be recording purchases, using your Quick Books, and organizing files. Relationships can include personal, family, as well as business. And, of course, health is crucial to keep up with all the other things you do.
Remember, everyday does look different AND when it doesn’t go as planned you can readjust for the day. I will give you an example of what a day may look like for me.
8:00am Networking (income)
9:30am Bible Study (relationship & personal)
11:00am One-on-One Meeting at coffee shop (income)
12:30pm Lunch at home & 30 minutes on treadmill (personal & health)
2:00pm Create next 10 days of Instagram messages (maintenance)
4:00pm Organize contacts (maintenance)
Another day may look very different.
7:00am Bible Study, Prayer, Yoga (personal & health)
9:00am Writing (maintenance)
12:00pm Lunch Meeting (income & relationship)
2:00pm Skype call with partner (maintenance & relationship)
4:00pm Invoices (income)
7:00pm Writing Group (personal)
I hope you get the idea about how simple it can be and it is okay to do just the eight things each day and know you are doing well. Many times you can get more done in a day BUT is it all necessary to feel accomplished? Plus, this leaves room in your schedule for those unexpected things that sometimes must take precedence, like an illness or emergency.
I want you to feel successful no matter what you are doing each day. 1 Corinthians 10:31 reminds us- So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. With this as our focus we can never go wrong.
So, where do you go from here? 8-8-8 is your strategy. Choose your specific goal in each of the eight areas- Financial, Business, Faith, Personal, Relationship, Fun, Health, and Contribution. Next, think through the next eight weeks. . . What three things can be accomplished each week? Rotate the focus to accomplish each ‘small’ goal. Then each week fill your calendar with the eight daily activities.
I would love to be able to assist you if you are still stuck or want help creating the goals and action steps you need to succeed. Linking Faith & Business so you grow in all areas of your life is my prayer for you. Connect with me and together we can create the life you want that moves you forward and places you in alignment with the Father.
Be filled to overflowing,
Deneen
