Have you heard yourself say, “I wish I could do more for God?”
Do you feel guilty that you don’t have the time or the desire to do one more thing (like serve at church)?
Do you believe if you are not participating in a church Bible study or class, you cannot grow spiritually?
Are you continually trying to make up for your lack of church involvement by ‘doing good things’?
Stop Stop Stop
Here’s the LIE- Growing in your faith and serving God is only done by attending and being involved at church.
Here’s what I KNOW- You love God, have a business, want to feel significance, and have more impact, but you are busy.
Does this describe you? Let’s break down the LIE.
Growing in your faith
LIE- You can only be growing in your faith by attending church-sponsored activities.
When you became a believer in Christ, it was essential to learn how to study the Bible and how to Pray. These two practices are the basis for understanding the character of God and getting to know Him in a personal way.
Maybe you learned at an early age that you need to be in church to learn about God. Or you can only grow in your relationship with Christ if you are ‘plugged in’ to a church.
KNOW- You can grow your faith with daily Bible reading and prayer.
God designed you to have a personal relationship with Him. When you became a believer, the Holy Spirit entered you and gave you the desire to know Him more. Your hunger to learn more about God through His Word is the evidence that you are a believer in Jesus. God has promised to guide you into a better understanding of who He is and what He has for you through Bible study.
In Ephesians 2:10, Paul tells us, For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
Prayer is also your way to understand God’s heart for you. By talking to God (before and after reading His Word) and pouring out yourself to Him, you begin to align with Him. Your desires, hopes, and dreams become the very ones He created for you.
You start to live satisfied, knowing you are doing His Will. You find significance in daily activities that demonstrate God’s transformative work in your life.
Growing in your service
LIE- You can only serve God by participating in church-sponsored activities.
After you have been in a church body for any length of time or when you become a member of your local church, you may take a Spiritual Gifts’ assessment. Many churches use these questionnaires to determine your ‘best fit’ for volunteer opportunities in the church. The problem is, there are a limited number of the types of ‘jobs’ they need to be filled.
Serving during weekend services by being a greeter, teaching a class, or ushering are all good things but, do they fulfill Christ’s mandate to go into all the world and make disciples? Is this lie keeping you from seeing your work as worship? Is this keeping your impact for God in a very tight, concentric circle?
KNOW- You can serve God in the marketplace through your work.
Volunteering in the nursery is necessary, but is it utilizing your gifts, talents, and expertise to impact another person’s life? Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, For everything, there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.
As a Christian Businesswoman & Entrepreneur, you are in a special season. I want to motivate you to look beyond what you have been taught and reframe the story in your head from ‘to serve God I have to be at church,’ to ‘I am serving God every time I work my business.’
Using your Spiritual Gifts in your work is one way to serve Him. One of my gifts is administration. That comes through in my work as being very organized. Another of my gifts is teaching. That’s what I get to do through my 5Ps Coaching & Mastermind. God did not intend for your gifts only to be used in the church to edify believers. He also intended you to use them in your work to show His goodness to others.
- How can you serve God Monday through Friday in your work?
Growing in your impact
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
How can you do that? By doing the internal work. When you do, the external actions reflect the you God intended. By connecting your faith and business, you are open to seeing your business as God’s business.
God has promised to help by changing the way you think. Romans 2:12 says,
The 5Ps to Significance & Satisfaction Coaching/Mastermind includes: reframing how you are viewing your service to God, understanding how God has uniquely designed you, strategies growing in your faith, aligning with God for more focus on what He wants for you, and then discovering the many ways He wants to bless you.
Imagine a program that allows you to have business Coaching, Masterminding, and Faith-growth all at the same time. Growing in your faith and fueling your business.
You can do more for God each day. You can serve Him by seeing your work as your worship. You can know His Will for you by cultivating a deep relationship with Him through Bible study and prayer. You can stop believing the LIE and start KNOWing the Truth.
Be filled to overflowing,
Deneen
