Peace that is more than I can understand? Where is this peace? Can I really have it?
No, not if you are trying to create it on your own. The only way to experience God’s peace (true peace) is to Pray about EVERYTHING.
Did you pray today? Did you give God thanks that you woke up? Are breathing? Can go to work?
Did you pray for protection for yourself? Your family? Your nation?
Did you pray for your daily needs? Did you pray for ministries? Others?
Did you pray. . . ?
You get the point.
Philippians 4:6-7 (NLT) says, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”
Neglecting your Prayer Life will keep you in chaos. Think about your day . . . What do you have going on? How much will be asked of you? Whether it’s your brain power, physical stamina, decision making, etc; it will take its toll on your body. The real battle for peace is in your mind. Filling up on HIM first will bring you into balance.
I know we hear a lot these days about ‘balance’. It is a fallacy. Life is FULL and we need a new approach to it so we aren’t in constant chaos. Satan would love to keep us desperate. He would love for you not to have peace OR worse, think that you can achieve it on your own.
How many of us think that if we could just slow down; if we could just make it to that class; if we just had a vacation? It is NOT about relaxing. It is about being active in our Prayer Life.
So, how does that happen? First, make a plan. Simple, right? Anything worth doing is worth planning for as well. Don’t think that your Prayer Life will just happen. It does take commitment. Start SLOW: Savor each moment you get to Pray; Let Go, have your heart become transparent before God; Open your ears for what He wants to say to you; Witness how your day is different because you are Praying.
Part of your plan should be a time of day; whenever you are at your best. Find a few minutes to begin and build if you are able. It is not a marathon. There is no award for the longest Prayer time. It IS finding your way to communicate with God. And remember, communication goes two ways. Use a Journal to write down, draw, and/or doodle so your mind focuses on what you want to share with Him and He can impress on you what He wants to share with you. Make it a sweet time of Peace.
Jesus promised to give us this Peace in John 14:27 with His High Priestly Prayer, “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”
Peace is there, it really is. By prioritizing our day, by making a plan, by moving forward step-by-step in that plan, it will come. God’s Perfect Peace that goes beyond our comprehension will be there for us. His power is accessible to you because it is in you.
