As we wind down the year I have been looking over the Goals I set for myself this past year and am looking to the future as I plan 2017. Are you there yet? We are coming up to Thanksgiving weekend and that means 2016 will be over sooner than we realize.
What were your Goals this year? I have discovered a secret- making BIG Goals at the beginning of the year does NOT work. Have you discovered that too? I have relied on making quarterly Goals this past year and it has worked out extremely well. If you want to know more contact me for a Discovery Session to see if we can work together (www.GrowFromYourOverflow.com).
In fact, I have come up with my 8-8-8 Strategy. What does that mean? 8 Goals-8 Activities-8 Weeks. Does the idea of a new method excite you as we go into next year? Do you really want to excel in your Business & in your Faith-life? Do you want a Strategy that will roll with your crazy life and get you where you want to go even when things go sideways? We need to talk!
Let’s chat today though about ONE area: Faith Goals. Have you ever thought about using your Business Skills in your Faith-life? Do you use your ‘know-how’ in Business to get things accomplished so you will GROW your relationship with Jesus? New idea? Let’s explore . . .
Create a Goal: Read through Proverbs in December; Finish my Bible Study Homework each week; Read one verse a day, write it down and journal what it means to me; Memorize 3 verses about who I am in Christ by Christmas. These are just some examples of what you can do. Notice that they are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time-based (SMART).
Next let’s look at how to Plan for each of these examples. Make a Plan: December has 31 days. One chapter each day in Proverbs; 30-minutes each day to complete Bible study homework; 15-minutes each day to write and respond to one verse; review one verse 10 times each day for 10 days until memorized and repeat with other verses. Do you get the idea about how to break it down so you can actually Achieve the Goal?
Now, we have to talk about the Reminder so you will actually carry out the Plan to achieve the Goal. Follow Through: Set a time of day when you want to do the Activity. I recommend working on your Faith Goal at your best time of day. So, if you are a morning person, do it then. If afternoon or evening is when you are most creative and alert save it for that time. No matter the time, set an alarm. When the alarm goes off, DO the action. Watch how you complete your Goal!
Are you ready to apply these Business Goal Setting techniques to your Faith-life? How do you think carving out this time and following through with your Plan will make you feel about your time connecting to God? I know you will learn MORE about His character, you will feel CLOSER to Him, and your Faith-life will GROW.
Cultivate GOOD habits and you will Succeed.
Be filled to overflowing,
Deneen
